Kenya Washington is the MYP/DP Principal at Ōsaka YMCA International School in Ōsaka, Japan, where she leads the secondary programs and advances IB teaching and learning across Grades 7–12. With more than 20 years of experience in international education and student support, she has held leadership roles including Upper School Assistant Principal at the United Nations International School in New York. Her areas of expertise include student support services coordination, social-emotional learning curriculum design, restorative practices, equity and inclusion, and student wellbeing, faculty recruitment, training, and development. She enjoys contributing to the professional growth of emerging school counselors and related practitioners.
Passionate about fostering inclusivity in international schools, her educational philosophy emphasizes resilience, care, and mentorship while cultivating learning environments that value diverse perspectives and promote a growth mindset. Her contributions to the field are further recognized through her published works on recruitment, equity, and cultural inclusion.
