Jennifer Swinehart is the Director of Research and Development at Hong Kong Academy. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin and Classical Studies, Jennifer became a middle school English teacher and Literacy Coach in Denver, Colorado in the United States. Since then, she has also taught middle school English at International School Manila in the Philippines and was previously the Middle Years Programme (MYP) Coordinator and an MYP/DP English literature teacher at Hong Kong Academy. A passionate advocate for nurturing inclusive communities, Jennifer facilitates workshops on personalising learning, inclusion and concept-based curriculum and instruction at international schools in Hong Kong and China. She is an International Baccalaureate (IB) workshop leader, school visitor and MYP consultant and is a frequent presenter at East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS) Conferences. Jennifer is currently completing her doctoral dissertation about student perceptions of the ways cognitive, metacognitive and affective skills are taught in grades 6-10.
