This is a thinking routine which helps us to make connections between new ideas and prior knowledge. You can read more about it here: Circle of Viewpoints_0.pdf (harvard.edu)

EXAMPLE

For example, perhaps your school has a policy of multilingual learners speaking only English originating from the belief that ‘more English practice would lead to faster and better English-language proficiency.’ An IBO workshop leader introduces the stance of ‘translanguaging’ based on current research. You can read an article or view a video on the topic in order to learn more.

Complete these three sentence stems:

  1. I am thinking of the English-only vs. translanguaging discussion from the point of view of …

  2. I think … (describe the topic from your viewpoint) …because … (explain your reasoning) …

  3. A question or concern I have from this viewpoint is …

Come prepared to share your thinking with others.
