How to get there
 
From Miami International Airport (approximately 19 miles):
Airport Shuttle:  No reservations needed.  Go to the lower level, outside the baggage claim area.  Shuttle representatives are dressed in yellow shirts.  They will call a van for you upon request and operate 24 hrs.  Cost:  $27 per person. By taxi: expect to pay about $50-$60 from the airport.  It is about a 35 minute ride. Yellow Cab telephone: 1-305-444-4444.
 
By car: The drive from Miami International Airport takes approximately 35 minutes.
 

·      Exit the airport and follow the signs to I-95 North, via Route 112

·      Take I-95 North to Ives Dairy Road, Exit 16 (also called NE 203 Street)

·      Go East on Ives Dairy Road to US 1 (also called Biscayne Blvd)

·      Turn right on Biscayne Blvd and immediately make first left at the traffic light onto Aventura Blvd (NE 199 Street)

·      Continue to the end and turn right on West Country Club Drive.  The resort's main entrance is on your left.

·      Note: There is a $1.25 toll on expressway 112 

 
 
From Ft. Lauderdale International Airport (approximately 12 miles):
By car:  Allow yourself thirty minutes from door to door.
 

·      Exit the airport and follow signs to I-95 South

·      Take I-95 South to Ives Dairy Road, Exit 16 (also called NE 203 Street)

·      Go East on Ives Dairy Road to US 1 (also called Biscayne Blvd)

·      Turn right on Biscayne Blvd and immediately make the first left at the traffic light onto Aventura Blvd (NE 199 Street)

·      Continue to the end and turn right on West Country Club Drive.  The resort's main entrance is on your left.

Accommodations

All participants will be housed in double rooms paired with another TTC participant unless a specific request has been made for a private room, for which there is an extra charge.  Private rooms are an additional $62.50 per night ($250 per course), beyond the ‘with accommodation’ course cost and are offered on a space-available basis.

All rooms are non-smoking and offer the following amenities:  wireless telephones, plasma TV, daily maid and turndown service, iron and ironing board, coffee and tea maker, mini-refrigerator, in-room safe (free safe deposit boxes also available at the front desk), air conditioning, balcony, spacious bathroom with tub and shower, hair dryer, free local and toll free calls, limited round trip transportation to the Aventura mall, daily newspaper, access to the fitness center at The Willow Stream Spa.

There are 3 outdoor swimming pools and a three-mile jogging track located on the hotel property.  The Turnberry's complimentary private ocean club on the beach, approximately 1 km, is accessible via the hotel's free shuttle.  Golf and tennis faciliites as well as spa services are offered at an additional charge.

Internet Access

·      Internet access is available in all guest rooms at a rate of $13.95 per day plus taxes. Participants who wish to join as a Fairmont Club Member will receive free internet access in their guestroom during their stay.  To join (for free), visit www.fairmont.com/fpc prior to your arrival.  Sign up and bring your Fairmont Member number with you.  You must sign up prior to arrival for the free internet benefit to be active during your stay.  Please be sure to sign up in advance.

·      The Business center also offers internet kiosks at a rate of $14.45 for the first 15 minutes and $0.80 for each minute thereafter.

·      A Business center also offers photocopying, faxing and printing from USB drives.  Rates provided upon your arrival.  The Business center is open M-F 7am-7pm, Sat and Sun 7am-1pm.  The TTC office cannot offer printing services.

 
Parking
Hotel parking is $15 per day and $30 per overnight stay.  There is also a shopping mall parking lot just across the street from the hotel where you can park for free at your own discretion.
 
Meals
Meals for all TTC participants include:
  • 2 coffee breaks daily
  • A welcome buffet the first night of the course (required attendance)
 
All other meals are own your own. There are restaurants in the hotel as well as a Publix Supermarket offering deli-style sandwiches across the street and the Aventura Mall within walking distance and with complimentary hotel shuttle.
Additional meals for those who have selected the 'with' accommodation option include a full buffet breakfast for 4 days.
When to arrive
TTC course check-in is from 1:00pm-3:00pm on the first date of the course.
 
Hotel check in begins at 4:00pm on the first date of the course. If you arrive prior to 4:00pm, the hotel will allow you to store your luggage until your hotel room is available for check-in.
 
The introductory session, followed by dinner, will begin at 4:00pm on the first date of the course. You should arrive in plenty of time to attend this first session. It is essential to the rest of the workshop.
 
Check in deposits
Each participant will be required to pay a security deposit to the Turnberry to cover incidentals (i.e. telephone calls, rentals, room service, etc.). This deposit is refundable upon check out if not used. Plan to provide a credit card upon check in. The credit card must bear your name or has your authorization to charge. If you do not have a credit card the hotel will collect $100 per day in cash upon check-in and request and additional $100 each time that is consumed by incidentals.
 
Daily Schedule
   

Day 1

  Course check in from 1:00pm - 3:00pm

  Welcome banquet in the evening for participants

Day 2-4

  3:45pm-5:00pm Reflection Sessions
Training is intensive. Most evenings are free for sightseeing & relaxation but little free time is available during the course for off-site activities.

Day 5

•  Classes end at approximately 1:00pm
 
The Hotel requires check out of all sleeping rooms by 12:00pm.  A luggage storage facility is available for convenience.  Plan to check out before class.  Late check out is subject to an extra nights charge.  The final morning is an essential part of the course. Please arrange your travel so that you can be present through this final session.
 
Note:  Participants must complete the full institute in order to receive a certificate of completion.  Those who arrive late or depart early will not receive confirmation of participation.
 
What to bring
Please bring all pre-readings and assignments that you receive from the TTC office. Please also bring an umbrella, a sweater or sweatshirt  (all training rooms are air-conditioned).
 
Extra Nights
If you need a room either before the starting day of you session, or after the session, or for the nights in between sessions if you are taking two courses, submit the extra night hotel booking form directly to the hotel. The TTC does not handle any additional reservations for days in Miami outside of the course dates. The hotel is holding a number of extra rooms, at the TTC rate of $141.25 single/double (includes $125 room rate plus 13% tax) per night. This rate does not include breakfast. The hotel will confirm availability upon receipt of your form. Please contact them EARLY as space is limited.  The deadline for extra-night reservations is 8 May 2009.  Please note that reservation requests received after 8 May 2009 may be charged a higher room rate if space is still available.
 
Graduate Credit
If you intend to take any course for graduate credit, please indicate this when you arrive on site.  Three semester hours of graduate credit is available from Buffalo State SUNY.  Representatives from SUNY will be on site to answer any questions and assist you in completing the appropriate paperwork before you leave Miami.  TTC will collect the fee for credits during the course and pass it on to the university.  All those taking a course for graduate credit will be required to complete an additional assignment. Please contact the university directly if you have any questions about matriculation, their degree programs, etc.
 
Cancellation policies
Your deposit is non-refundable.  For registrants who withdraw after 8 May 2009, one half of the fees, less the deposit, will be refunded.
 
Training at the TTC is intensive
While there are no evening sessions, you may have reading and/or short writing assignments to complete.  There is no free time available during the course for off-site activities. Attendance of family members who are not attending the course is discouraged.
