FROM MIAMI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT 18.7 MILES TO THE TURNBERRY ISLE HOTEL

  • AIRPORT SHUTTLE: Super Shuttle (http://www.supershuttle.com/?port=MIA1 800-258-3826. Reserve online or buy one-way or round-trip tickets on the airport lower level, outside the baggage claim area. Shuttles are blue vans. Cost: $30 per person.  Please note that you may have to wait for more riders to join the shuttle and it may take longer to arrive at the Turnberry as the shuttle will stop at multiple hotels. 
  • BY TAXI: The fare is about $60 (plus tip; more in heavy traffic) from the airport to the hotel each way.  (35 minute ride)
  • BY CAR: The drive from Miami International Airport takes approximately 35 minutes.
  • Exit the airport and follow the signs to I-95 North, via route 112.
  • Take I-95 North to Ives Dairy Road, exit 16 (also called NE 203 Street).
  • Go East on Ives Dairy Road to US1 (also called Biscayne Blvd).
  • Turn right on Biscayne Blvd and immediately make first left at the traffic light onto Aventura Blvd (NE 199 Street).
  • Continue to the end and turn right on West Country Club Drive. The resort's main entrance is on your left.
  • Note: there is a $1.40 toll on expressway 112

FROM FT. LAUDERDALE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT 11.6 MILES TO THE TURNBERRY ISLE HOTEL

Book online or purchase tickets on site. Check in at the Transportation Podium located outside the baggage area on the lower level curbside. Vans are green and white. Fare: $21 per person for a shared ride to the Turnberry Hotel.
  • BY TAXI: Find a taxi at the taxi podium outside the baggage claim area on the lower level of each terminal. Fare is about $46 to the Turnberry Hotel. It is about a 30 minute ride.  Broward Airport Taxi Telephone:+1-954-456-1111
  • BY CAR: The drive from the Fort Lauderdale Airport takes approximately 30 minutes.
  • Exit the Airport and follow signs to I-95 South.

ACCOMMODATION MIAMI

During registration, participants have the option of purchasing shared or private accommodation at the Turnberry Isle Hotel at a special PTC/TTC rate. The shared accommodation option includes a double room with the registrant paired with another TTC participant (you can request a specific roommate at the time of registration) at a cost of US$401 for four nights.  The private room option costs US$697 for four nights. Rooms at the PTC/TTC rate are offered on a space-available basis.  Each extra person above two adults sharing a room will be charged an additional $50 per night.  There is no charge for children up to and including the age of 18 years who share with their parents.  Maximum occupancy per room is four. All rooms are non-smoking and offer free internet access, phones, plasma TV, iron and ironing board, coffee/tea maker, mini-refrigerator, in-room safe, air conditioning, balcony, hair dryer, and access to gym, three outdoor swimming pools, a three-mile jogging track and a private ocean club on the beach accessible via the hotel’s free shuttle. Golf and tennis facilities as well as spa services are offered at an additional charge.

Marriott Points: The Turnberry is a Marriott Hotel. Hotel policy does not allow registrants to get Marriott points for accommodation booked through the PTC. Registrants can earn points on any EXTRA NIGHTS purchased at the PTC rate before, after and in-between sessions.

How To Get There

Selsdon Park Hotel is located in the Village of Selsdon, about 3.5 miles south of Croydon and 13 miles from central London.  Map Link:  http://binged.it/1PfJZ4D .  Tube, train and bus options require travel first to EAST CROYDON STATION. You must then arrange travel from the station to the hotel. Allow approximately two hours to travel from Heathrow to East Croydon Station (26-43 miles depending on route and traffic); and one hour from Gatwick to East Croydon Station (18 miles). From East Croydon Station; allow another half-hour to get from the station to the hotel (3.5 miles). 

FROM HEATHROW AIRPORT TO EAST CROYDON STATION

  • Bus: Taking the bus is the most direct and inexpensive route between Heathrow and East Croydon Station.  The direct bus runs four times an hour from 7-9am; two times an hour from 9am-7pm; and hourly from 7pm – midnight. From Heathrow Central Bus Station take the Route Bus X26 from ‘Stop 20’ towards Lunar House (CR0). It is about a 75 minute journey to East Croydon Station. Bus cost is £1.50. Cash is not accepted. Use either an Oyster card or a credit/debit card with a chip. For bus information visit https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/buses/.   • Tube/Train: The fastest train route is taking the Heathrow Express towards London Paddington Rail Station and get off at Paddington; walk to Paddington underground station and take Circle Line towards High Street Kensington and get off at Victoria Station; take Southern towards Brighton Rail Station and get off at East Croydon. Cost is (£21.50) for Heathrow Express and (£5.20 to £7.60) for the underground and train. To save money, you can take the underground/train all the way from the airport to East Croydon station (£5.20 to £7.60). You can plan your trip online at the Transport for London (www.tfl.gov.uk) website to find the best connections by tube, train and or/bus to East Croydon station and Selsdon Park Hotel.

FROM GATWICK AIRPORT TO EAST CROYDON STATION

  • Train: Taking the train is the most direct and least expensive route between Gatwick and East Croydon station. There are frequent trains on the SOUTHERN SERVICE. The trip is 15 to 20 minutes and costs £5-6. You can plan your train trip online at the National Rail web site at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

    How to Get From East Croydon Station to Selsdon Park Hotel 
    Take a taxi (cost about £15), or take either Route Bus 64 or Bus T33 from the station to the hotel.
    -To get to the station bus stop (E2): exit the front of the train station, and you will see it across the street and to the left.
    -Option 1: Take Bus T33 towards New Addington/Salcot Crescent; get off at the Hawthorne Crescent stop on Old Farleigh Rd, cross the street, and go right (back up the hill the bus just drove down), then take the first entryway on your left which is the unmarked side gate to the Selsdon Park Hotel. (If you reach the high school, you have gone too far).
    -Option 2: Take Bus 64 toward New Addington and get off at stop L on Addington Rd (this is the Selsdon high street shops); Cross the street after getting off the bus and go southwest on Addington Rd, cross the intersection which has a Pharmacy on your left (across the intersection is a Sainburys market); continue walking on the footpath past Sainburys until you reach a sign marking the Selsdon Park hotel entry.
    -Bus cost is £1.50. Cash is not accepted. Use an Oyster card or credit/debit card with a chip. Selsdon Park Hotel occasionally offers a free shuttle to and from East Croydon station. Contact the hotel for details at +44 (0) 208 657 8811.

  • Transport by Taxi 

London taxi details visit: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/taxisandminicabs/taxis/1140.aspx  The online table shows typical fares and journey times based on distance for three types of tariff. Fares and journey times may be higher if there are delays or heavy traffic. There is a minimum fare of £2.40 at all times. The passenger will be expected to pay the full fare displayed on the meter at the end of the journey unless the driver and passenger agree on the final fare to be charged before the start of the journey. Once a taxi journey reaches six miles, the taxi fare increases at a higher rate. Fares for destinations outside Greater London may be negotiated between the passenger and driver before the journey. If no fare is agreed before the start of the journey then the maximum fare will be that shown on the meter at the end of the journey. TRAVEL BETWEEN SELSDON PARK HOTEL AND LONDON

The quickest way to travel into London is to take a hotel shuttle, a 20-minute local bus 64 (Bus stops at Selsdon Park Road) or T33 (bus stops at Old Farleigh Road) for £1.50 (credit card or oyster card required) or a taxi (about £15) to East Croydon Station. There is regular train service to Victoria Station on Southern Railway for £3.10 to £4.90. From there you can connect via tube to anywhere in London.

ACCOMMODATION LONDON

All participants who have selected ‘with accommodation’ will be housed at Selsdon Park Hotel and Golf Club.  Depending on what type of accommodation you purchased, you will be housed in either a double room (with a roommate) or a private room. Check-in time is 3pm. Checkout is at 11am. The hotel is a historic building dating back to the ninth century, located on 205 acres of parkland (including a world class golf course) just south of Croydon and 13 miles from central London. It is accessible by train and bus through the East Croydon train station which has connections to Gatwick and Heathrow airports, and regular train service to London. En-suite rooms include toiletries, tea/coffee tray, TV, phone, hairdryer, trouser press and complimentary wireless internet.  The facility has an indoor pool, a gym, tennis courts, a spa, a solarium, a bar and a restaurant.

WHAT TO BRING

  • A LAPTOP with internet access IS REQUIRED
  • Or an iPad or tablet may also be used instead of a computer. If you do, be sure you have iAnnotate, PDF Expert 5, Notability, Good Reader, or any other app that recognizes links and will allow you to annotate and save a PDF.
  • An adaptor for charging lap top
  • Completed prep assignments
  • Any items required to make your stay more comfortable in the hotel room
  • Swim suit and gym clothes if you wish to use recreational facilities

COURSE MATERIALS

Your course materials are digital and will available for download via an email prior to the start of your course.  No print copies will be available. Internet is free in the meeting rooms, but please keep only ONE device connected to the internet at any one time.

INTERNET ACCESS

The hotels provides free internet access in hotel public areas and the TLI meeting room. Be sure to have the appropriate adapter plugs for your computer as these are not supplied.

MEALS

Meals for all TLI participants include:  

  • Welcome buffet dinner on the first night of the course (attendance required).  
  • Two snack breaks daily on days 2, 3, and 4. One snack break on day 5.
  • In London only, a lunch buffet is provided on days 2, 3 and 4. 

All other meals are on your own.  In Miami, there are restaurants in the hotel, as well as a Publix Supermarket offering deli-style sandwiches across the street and the Aventura Mall within walking distance and with complimentary hotel shuttle.  In London, there are several restaurants along the High Street in the village.

Additional meals for those who have selected the ‘with accommodation’ option:

TRAINING AT THE TLI IS INTENSIVE

While there are no evening sessions, you may have reading and/or short writing assignments to complete.  There is little free time available during the course for off-site activities. Attendance of family members who are not attending the course is discouraged.

EXTRA NIGHTS

If you need a room either before, in between, or after any TLI/TTC course, submit an extra night request form directly to the hotel via fax. This form can be found on the PTC web site, www.ThePTC.org/already-registered. The PTC does not handle any additional reservations for days in Miami or London outside of the course dates. The hotel is holding a limited number of extra rooms as follows:

  • Miami: The extra night PTC rate is $168.67 single/double (includes $149 room rate plus 13% tax) per night. This rate does not include breakfast.
  • London: The extra night PTC rate is GBP100 single/GBP115 double. This rate includes breakfast. 

The hotels will confirm availability within 3-5 business days of receipt of your form.  Please contact them EARLY as space is limited. The deadline to request rooms with the extra-night reservations form is 15 May 2017.  (Please note that reservation requests received after 15 May 2017 may be charged a higher room rate if space is still available)

CANCELLATION POLICY

  • Full payment due at time of registration.
  • Before 1 May 2017 -$500 of total cost per course is NON-REFUNDABLE.
  • After 1 May 2017 - course fees are $500 plus half the remaining fees.
  • All refundable fees will be held as CREDITS for the following year unless other arrangements have been made with the PTC.

PHOTOGRAPHS AND VIDEO

Please be advised that photographs and videos will be taken at the TLI Sessions for use on the PTC website and in the press, PTC marketing materials, and all other PTC publications. By participating in a TLI Summer Session, you consent to the PTC photographing and using your image and likeness. The PTC reserves the right to use any photograph/video taken at TLI Sessions, without the expressed written permission of those included within the photograph/video. The PTC may use the photograph/video in publications or other media material produced, used or contracted by the PTC including but not limited to: brochures, invitations, books, newspapers, magazines, television, websites, etc.
