Description: The International School of Panama has grown since its founding in 1982 into a nationally and internationally recognized educational institution. From 35 original students to a current enrollment of 1,100, ISP proudly hosts students from over 50 nationalities and teachers from over 12 countries. The school operates as a not for profit organization under a license granted by the Ministry of Education of Panama, and is accredited by AdvancEd, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

The school has seen dramatic growth over the past 30 years and is now set on beautiful acreage in the open rolling hills of Cerro Viento. All classrooms are equipped with a variety of multimedia equipment. Additionally, the school boats several science labs, two cafeterias, visual and performing arts classes and beautiful outdoor areas. The elementary school serves students from pre-kinder 3 through grade 5. We use inquiry approaches to teaching and learning. The programs we use like Everyday Math and Balanced Literacy allow children to develop a rich understanding of themselves, their communities, and our world. They also allow us to educate the whole child by developing an instructional program based on each student’s developmental level and needs. The goal of the Middle School program, which includes grades 6 through 8, is to support students by understanding the developmental needs of adolescents. The approach to teaching and learning is collaborative and inclusive. Students participate actively in the learning process and develop independence and responsibility. The Advisory program is a cornerstone of the Middle school program and provides students with skills in the areas of decision making, dealing with peer conflict and self awareness. MS Leadership and clubs provide students with opportunities to develop leadership skills. ISP offers the prestigious International Baccalaureate Program (IB) to students in grades 11 and 12. The Classes of 2011 and 2012 were the first ISP graduating classes where the majority pursued IB Diploma, above 60% in both years. Elementary Principal; Knowledge of PYP preferred; ability to speak Spanish preferred; Send notification of interest and link to your resume

The School: Davy College is located in Cajamarca, in northern Peru and was founded in 1995. In 2004, we initiated an English stream comprised of both ex-patriot native speakers and Peruvian nationals whose families have chosen for them to learn in English. It is a non-sectarian, non-profit private day school supported by tuition fees and through donations from Minera Yanachoca. The program is college preparatory, co-educational, non-residential, and extends from pre-kindergarten through grade twelve. In September 2007, the final parts of the multi-year educational facilities master plan were completed with the dedication of the completed primary school. Other construction projectes have included a new mathematics/science building, a new pre-school building, the new library and the school cafeteria and kitchen have been remodeled and expanded. The academic year includes 180 school days in two semesters. The first semester begins in February and ends in early July. The second semester begins in August and continues until the third week in December. The school follows the South American school calendar.

Curriculum: The educational program is that of a college preparatory school. The primary languages of instruction are English and Spanish with the vision of developing students who are bilingual and biliterate. The primary emphasis in grades six through twelve is on preparation for entrance into university programs both in Peru and abroad. The International Baccalaureate program is the capstone for the high school program. The school was first accredited by SACS in 2007 and we are now undergoing work towards reaccreditation in 2012.

Organization and Administration: The school has three distinct sections. The Inicial (pre-school) has a separate location on-site for children from two to four years of age. The elementary program encompasses grades kindergarten through grade five and has a full-time principal. The secondary school includes grades six through twelve with a secondary principal. The school has three full-time psychologists/counselors who work as a team with each concentrating on one of the three divisions.

Salary: 28,000 - 40,600 - paid in US dollars for overseas hires.

Benefits: For overseas hires, benefits include round trip to home of record after initial two-year contract, housing allowance of $500 per teacher or $750 per family per month. Local health insurance and home leave travel insurance is also provided.

General Qualifications: Candidates must be fully certified and have at least a BA degree or the equivilent. Preference will be given to those candidates with PYP, MYP and/or IB diploma experience. Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.

Materials to be sent: CV with at least three letters of recommendation and contact information.

Copy of credentials.

Age Restrictions: No

Deadline: Davy´s academic year begins in February. Thus, the report date is Feb. 1 of each year for new hires. However, we do have some expat teachers on mid-year (August) contracts) and so we do also hire for August 1 for each year.
