PTC Graduate Credit

General Information

offers a Master of Education in Educational Leadership (SECL). Eleven courses (33 credits) are required. Four of the required courses(12 credits) can be taken through the PTC. The Administrative Practicum can be done on site in your school, and the remaining six courses can be completed during two summers at the college’s global campuses or at the Ewing, NJ campus.

Completion of this M.Ed. can lead to a New Jersey Certificate of Eligibility (CE) for U.S. citizens, the initial administrative (principal) certification. Successful completion of the appropriate PRAXIS examination is required for the CE. Non-U.S. citizens receive a college-issued certificate upon program completion.

*These courses do not meet the requirements for the Master's or Post-Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, but may be taken as credit for transfer or elective purposes in to one of the other Global Graduate Edu. Programs TCNJ offers (if approved by the TCNJ program coordinator).

New Post Masters Certificate Program in Educational Leadership (TCNJ)
 
The newly approved TCNJ post-master's certificate program in Educational Leadership is an intensive graduate program leading to eligibility for new Jersey principal certification (or the equivalent for non-U.S. citizens). Students are now invited to apply to The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) and enroll in summer 2005 PTC or TCNJ courses.
 
Students may transfer up to 6 credits from the PTC to this program (in previously approved areas).  Students who have not previously completed a graduate course in curriculum would be able to transfer up to an additional 3 credits (totaling 9 credits) into the Post-Master's Certificate through the transfer of the PTC's Curriculum & Resource Development Course.

Lehigh University, located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, offers graduate credit for PTC courses.

To better meet the needs of international school educators, four courses from the PTC can be used for the Masters in Educational Leadership, the Masters in Global Educational Leadership and the Principal Certification.

PTC Courses can be used towards the Pennsylvania Principal Certification and M.Ed. in Educational Leadership using the following options below:
 
1. Four PTC courses and no transfer of credits from other institutions.
2. Three PTC courses and transfer of 3 credits from an accredited institution.*
3. One or two PTC courses and transfer of 6 credits from an accredited institution.*

Note: One summer residency at the Lehigh site is required for all candidates in the M.Ed./Principal Certification, M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and PA Principal Certification Programs program.

* Approval of transfer credit must be given by the College of Education Chairperson.


The University of Bath in England has Masters and Doctoral programs that are designed for educators in international schools. PTC participants have transferred their PTC experiences into these programs; this transfer of credit is on an individual basis.
