Required Preparation for

Leadership and Group Dynamics

London: 26 June- 2 July 2008

 Miami: 4-10 July 2008

1.      Pre-reading materials

Before your arrival, please read the attached article “What Makes a Leader”, by Daniel Goleman.  Make any notes or questions and bring them with you.

2.      Written work

·         Write a brief paragraph describing a leadership problem you are facing at this time.

·         If you are in a leadership role yourself, keep a log of your activities for 2 days.  If you are not in a leadership role, shadow a leader for at least one day- record key leadership activities.  

3.            Vision

 Write your personal vision statement for a school that you now lead, will lead, or want to lead.

4.            Please bring

·         A paragraph stating what you want to learn in this seminar. This will be collected by the trainers on the first full day of the course.

·         A leadership article that is most meaningful to you. Write a brief paragraph (half page) to share the message of the article.

5.            Vignettes

In preparation for the small group sessions in the afternoon please bring a written (one page) case study or vignette, dealing with a problem or situation you have confronted during your professional practice.
