BRING SAMPLES

Please bring 1-2 samples (a
single copy of each sample) from your school of each of the
following:

A classroom
assessment, made by a classroom teacher any grade level
subject.

A common
assessment (used in more than one classroom) made and used
by teachers

Report card
from any section(s) of your school

Sample page(s)
from a grade or record book

·
One unit of
instruction taught at any grade level in your school. A unit
which already includes learning
standards or
outcomes is preferable.

A brief
description of and any printed materials on beliefs,
guidelines, policies about assessment at your school

Examples of
any data that your school typically collects on student
learning (e.g. report card data, external tests results,
running record data, etc.)

3.
ASSESSMENT LEADERSHIP PROCESS AT YOUR SCHOOL

While we will be building
understanding, skill and knowledge on actual assessment
practices, there will be a strong emphasis on LEADING the
assessment process in a school, which is very much a role of
the principal.

If you are a
principal yourself, write brief (description of what your
current role is with regard to student assessment.
-
·
If you are
not a principal, interview a principal in your school and
bring some brief notes on your principals perception of
his/her role in assessment
-

3.
VIGNETTE
-
In preparation for the
small group sessions in the afternoon, please bring a
written (not more than one-page) case study or vignette,
dealing with a problem or situation you have confronted
during your professional practice.
